President and Vice President  

Adrianna Smith and Claire Sunday 

Adrianna Smith and Claire Sunday are running for President and Vice President of the Student Body for the 2021-2022 academic year. Adrianna is a junior Philosophy and Theology major with a Biology minor from Covington Township, PA, who has served on Student Government for the last two years. She is a member of the SJLA honors program. In her time on Student Government, Adrianna served as Class of 2022 Senator and was appointed Chairwoman of the Academic & Scholastic Affairs Committee in her second year. She is an RA for sophomores in Gavigan Hall, a Co-Director and Tour Guide in Admissions, a PACT presenter, and an Orientation Assistant for 3 years. She serves as a mentor for THR1VE’s mentorship program and is a passionate first-generation college student. Adrianna enjoys volunteering at the St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen. She serves as the student representative on the Library Dean’s Search Committee, the Strategic Plan Progress and Impact Committee, and the Academic Assessment Advisory Committee. Adrianna has seen how important the work of Student Government is and looks forward to working alongside Claire and the Student Body this upcoming year.  

Claire Sunday is a Theology and Philosophy major, with minors in Political Science and Spanish, from Clarks Summit, PA. Claire has served on Student Government for the past two years as a Class of 2023 Senator. During her time, she has served on the Academics & Scholastic Affairs Committee and has served as the Chairwoman of the Campus, Life, and Dining Committee. Additionally, Claire has worked beside members of the student and faculty governments on the University Governance Council. In addition to Student Government, Claire works as a Tour Guide and has been part of the Orientation Team for two years. Claire is a passionate member of SJLA and is also a member of the University’s Honors Research program and Alpha Sigma Nu. Claire also has a strong desire to help her local community. Last year, she served as a volunteer for mayor Paige Cognetti’s campaign, and she also worked as an intern for the mayor this past summer. Claire has valued her experience in Student Government, and she is excited to continue her work with Adrianna and the members of the University of Scranton in the 2021-2022 school year.  

Adrianna and Claire are extremely passionate about Student Government and the University of Scranton. They want to make sure that every student has the best experience and feels welcomed and heard at the University. Although they are both local students, Adrianna and Claire have made Scranton their second home. They plan to work tirelessly to make sure that all students feel the same way. Their combined years of experience on Student Government give them the skills and understanding to put student concerns first and give them the ability to successfully lead Senators and members of the Cabinet. Adrianna and Claire cannot wait to serve as President and Vice President for the Student Body and look forward to working with all of you!
