Royals of Color Kickoff
Pre-Arrival Program to Help you Build a Strong Foundation for Success!
What is ROCK?
ROCK is an exciting NEW early arrival program which invites new students of color to come to campus the Thursday, prior to first-year move in to connect with peers, upper-division mentors, and campus and local resources to support social network development, community-building, and campus and local-area connection. The day-and-a-half long program will feature a networking dinner with families and University staff and administrators, social activities, a campus resource tour, a Downtown lunch and business tour, and candid conversations with returning students of color. Our goal is to help you feel at home on campus an in Scranton!
When is it held?
New students will arrive on campus on the morning of Thursday, August 26th (and move into their Fall housing assignment for residential students). Parents and Guardians will be invited to participate in our welcome and dinner. We will host events and sessions for students from 7pm on August 26th through the morning of August 28th. A final schedule will be provided to participants closer to the event.
Who can participate and what is the cost?
There is no cost, though we do ask that if you register, you commit to coming. We invite any first-year student who identifies as a student of color to register and begin to build social and community connections with peers of color. You will be able to engage with upper-division students of color, as well as faculty, staff, and administrators all around campus.
