Riaz Hussain

Riaz Hussain was born in Pakistan where he received his early education: BS (Physics and Mathematics) from Forman Christian College, Lahore, and MS (Physics) from University of the Punjab, Lahore. He came to USA in 1960 on a Fulbright Fellowship. He studied at the Johns Hopkins University, where he received his PhD in Physics. He joined the University of Scranton as a faculty member in 1967. After teaching Physics for eighteen years, he switched his field of study from Physics to Finance. He went on to get a PhD in Finance from Lehigh University.

Dr. Hussain was the Director of the MBA Program (2002-2005) and was an Alperin Teaching Fellow (2001-2004). He is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University. He regularly teaches courses in Investments, Portfolio Theory, Derivative Securities, and Financial Management to MBA and undergraduate students. Since 1999, he has been the faculty moderator of PRISM Group, a group of undergraduate students who have the responsibility of investing a part of the University endowment fund. He holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation. Dr. Hussain also serves as the imam of the Campus Mosque.

In summer 2007, Dr. Hussain served as a visiting faculty member at the Capital University of Economics and Business, Beijing, China.

Now retired as a major from the US Army, Dr. Hussain's son has served two tours of duty in Iraq with the Fourth Infantry Division. At present, his grandson is in the Army, who has served in Iraq as well.
