Ventral Surface:

The major new points of interest here are the trapezoid body and the pyramidal tracts.

The trapezoid body runs parallel to the caudal edge of the pons and, in the sheep, it is quit obvious from this perspective.   In humans, the trapezoid body cannot be seen on the ventral surface of the brain; it has been "eaten" by a much expanded pons and it is found about half way up into the core of the brain stem at this level.  The trapezoid body carries auditory infromation from the cochlear nuclei that are found on the edges of the lateral edges of the dorsal brain stem

Streaming caudally along the midline you can see the two buldges that are the pyramidal tracts.  These are motor pathways, largely carrying information from the cerebral cortex to the spinal cord

Running down the midline, between the pyramidal tractsI is the ventral median sulcus (the name says it all).
