Spring Sports Wrap-Up

Senior Ryan Millard earned All-America and Scholar All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) this past spring.

The baseball team won a school-record 16 conference games en route to finishing in first place in the regular season and posting a 22-15 overall record. The 22 victories marked the fourth time in the past five seasons the team won at least 20 games. Freshman outfielder Tommy Trotter (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) was named Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and was a third-team all-Mid-Atlantic Region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Assocation after hitting .404 and scoring 28 runs. Head coach Mike Bartoletti also earned his 200th career victory as head coach of the Royals, becoming the first coach in program history to reach that milestone.

Men’s Golf
The men’s golf team finished third at the Empire 8 Conference championships, placing a pair of players in the top 10. Junior Ryan Brown (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished ninth overall while senior Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) tied for 10th, with both earning second-team all-conference honors for their efforts. The Royals won 14 matches, extending their streak of at least 10 victories to six straight seasons.

Men’s Lacrosse
The men’s lacrosse team went 10-8 and advanced to the Landmark Conference championship game for the third time in seven years. The Royals lost a heartbreaker in the title game, 5-4, to Catholic, the team’s sixth loss by a single goal. Senior midfielder Ryan Millard (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) was named a Scholar All-American and an honorable mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, becoming just the second player in program history to earn All-American honors.

Women’s Lacrosse
The women’s lacrosse team qualified for the Landmark Conference playoffs for the fifth straight season and hosted a playoff game for the first time in program history. Senior midfielder Emily Goss (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) was a first-team all-Landmark Conference selection and was named second-team all-Boardwalk Region by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association for the second straight year. She finished her career with 173 goals, fourth-most in team history, and 188 points, fifth-most in program history.

The softball team posted 19 victories, its second-highest win total in the past seven seasons. Senior infielder Stephanie Romano (Oak Ridge, N.J./West Milford) was named Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for softball, and was a first-team all-conference honoree after hitting .330 with eight stolen bases and a team-high 25 runs scored. Sophomore infielder Shannon Stricker (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell Egan) was also a first-team choice after hitting .372 with 15 doubles and 32 RBIs.

Men’s Tennis
The men’s tennis team posted five victories under first-year head coach Jack Rubano. Freshman Keller McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) was named second-team all-Landmark Conference in singles play after posting seven victories, including three in conference play, at the top spot in the lineup. Senior Ryan Bair (Leola, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) led the Royals with nine singles victories.

Women’s Tennis
The women’s tennis team advanced to the Landmark Conference championship for the fourth straight season and posted 12 victories, the most for the team since 2000. Senior Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) was a first-team all-Landmark Conference selection in both singles and doubles, and she finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in career singles victories (47) and career doubles victories (46). Fellow senior Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) was also a first-team all-conference choice in both singles and doubles, and finished her career fourth in career singles wins (42) and second in career doubles wins (41).
