EXCELLENCE IN INTEGRATING SUSTAINABILITY INTO THE CURRICULUM

This Sustainabilty Award recognizes the efforts of faculty who strive for excellence in teaching about sustainability and who make extraordinary efforts to introduce that essential concept into the curriculum.  The award is given to a faculty member who is actively engaged in developing, promoting and strengthening curricula that ensure when students leave The University of Scranton, they will possess the awareness, competence, skills and insights to appreciate and/or advance sustainability in a local and global context.  The recipient of this year's award is Jessica Nolan.  Dr. Nolan is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology.

Dr. Nolan directs the Environmental Studies concentration and teaches Environmental and Conservation Psychology.  Most of her scholarship involves sustainability.  She mentors dozens of students conducting research on the application of social psychology to the promotion of sustainable behavior.  She serves on editorial boards for Environmental Psychology journals, and she delivers guest lectures and workshops across the country.  Her nominator concludes that "Dr. Jessica Nolan is the real deal.  Not only does she teach, conduct research, and organize substantial university and community service around sustainability, but she also lives as sustainable as possible."
