EXCELLENCE IN THE SCHOLARSHIP OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

 

The Faculty Enhancement Award for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is intended to recognize faculty who strive for excellence in teaching, make extraordinary efforts to enhance student learning, and who practice teaching as a form of scholarship.  Dr. Bryan Burnham is this years awardee. 

Dr. Burnham is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology.  He is a Cognitive Psychologist, with interests in attention, memory, and other thought processes central to learning, and he teaches courses on scholarhip in psychology, including statistics and research methods.  His nominator notes his use of replication studies with students in his research methods course and his work with his colleagues to develop a new two-semester integrated statistics/research methods sequence in the Psychology curriculum.  She adds, "Clearly Dr. Burnham is dedicated to teaching students about scholarship.  While most of us enjoy mentoring student reserach, Bryan has taken on the much more formidable task of extending his research-based learning to the classroom.
