Ms. Koehler is a two-time graduate of the University of Scranton: Summa cum laude undergraduate with a B.S. degree in Economics and Finance and MBA graduate from the University of Scranton's Kania School of Management. Ms. Koehler was also a Fulbright Scholar, and pursued her Fulbright studies in Auckland, New Zealand where she researched the deregulation of the New Zealand banking industry.  She likewise consulted on this topic for a large US banking institution. 

Following her Fulbright studies, Ms. Koehler spent time in Australia and Pittsburgh in international bank training positions, and later in corporate credit and treasury management relationship manager positions with the same nationally recognized bank. Her career in healthcare began in 1990 as a commercial banker specializing in health care finance and financial loan, investment and treasury management products.  In 1995, she transitioned into the health care provider setting working for a large, integrated delivery system in northeastern Pennsylvania. 

During Ms. Koehler’s 15 years within the health care provider setting, she held various management positions including Director of Managed Care Contracting, Physician Contracting, Vice President of Planning and Development, Senior Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer and finally Assistant CEO and Chief Operating Officer.  In her C-Suite position(s), she presided over; a 400 bed-acute care hospital, a 100+ bed free-standing behavioral health provider, 100+ bed long-term care, assisted living, independent living provider, a large multi-county home health and hospice provider, a large FQHC rural health clinic, a 20-slot family practice residency program, a joint venture physician/hospital surgery center, and a large multi-specialty physician group practice.  Ms. Koehler was also a voting board member on all of the aforementioned entities except for her direct employer which was the acute care hospital.  During her final years in the health care provider setting, she led her health care system through the sale/merger process and transition from being a freestanding regional not-for-profit provider to becoming part of a large, for-profit, national provider hospital chain. She remained with the acquiring provider for a transition period before joining the University of Scranton in 2012 as adjunct faculty in the Panuska College of Professional Studies. 

Ms. Koehler was appointed to a full-time faculty position in the Department of Health Care Administration and Human Resources in 2014. Her current position as a faculty specialist and fieldwork coordinator affords her the opportunity to remain very active and visible in the provider community through her oversight of MHA (residential program) students completing their final course requirement in the residential curriculum.  This student experience entails a 6-month, 1000-hour, 8-credit residency course and oversite by Ms. Koehler in the attainment of student placements and all her oversite of all project work requirements.  Student placements are throughout the continental US including nationally recognized health systems.  Ms. Kohler’s primary areas of teaching focus and career expertise include, strategic planning, process and performance improvement, operational aspects of information technology and finance (including all aspects of operational/financial decision-making, managed care and advanced reimbursement models, capital and financial markets, cost accounting, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions). 

Aside from her professional interests, she enjoys golfing, gardening, traveling, furniture and jewelry making as well as interior design.
