Information for Students with Disabilities

The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) works with students to provide support they may need to have a rewarding and successful experience at Scranton. The CTLE is home to the University’s ADA Committee which determines whether a student is eligible for services and, if so, coordinates appropriate accommodations based on documentation provided by the student and other relevant professionals. We are fully committed to offering our students with disabilities access to programs, facilities and services on an equal opportunity basis.

With respect to privacy and confidentiality, CTLE reviews and maintains disability-related documentation and information in the most safe, secure, and effective way possible. Disclosures of specific health/learning issues to the CTLE will be held confidential and will not appear on a student’s college record.

Welcome New Students!

It is the responsibility of the student to initiate the ADA interactive process by contacting and meeting with a CTLE staff member at the beginning of each semester, or when otherwise appropriate. Students interested in more information about requesting reasonable accommodations are encouraged to start the conversation by emailing disabilityservices@scranton.edu or calling 570–941–4038 to make an appointment. The CTLE is located in the Loyola Science Center, 5th floor.

For Current Students with Accommodations

If you have been granted academic accommodations, you will be sent an email at the beginning of each semester reminding you to schedule an appointment with a CTLE staff member to complete your faculty notification letters.

If your accommodation(s) needs to be adjusted, please send updated documentation to the CTLE for review by the ADA Committee.

If you have any questions about accommodations at Scranton based on a disability or temporary impairment, feel free to visit the links below. If you have any questions, please send them to disabilityservices@scranton.edu.

You must take the initiative! This site is a valuable resource; however, it is not a substitution for a personal meeting with a CTLE staff member.

For Students in High Risk Populations

The CDC has identified “People Who Are at Increased Risk for Severe Illness” should they contract COVID-19. The University has established the following procedure for students who may have underlying conditions and are concerned about returning to campus. This may include a request to take all courses remotely or live in a single room. Students with an underlying condition or circumstance which exposes them to a higher risk of illness should they contract the virus need to provide proper professional documentation.

If you are requesting an Academic Accommodation due to such conditions, please submit the following forms:
