Mathematics & Psychology
Class of 2021

Tell us about your research.

I was selected to participate in the Psychology Research IMmersion Experience (aka PRIME), working with Dr. Orr in the Biopsychology Lab, investigating learning and memory in humans and animals.  I am gaining knowledge of professional development, research conducted by faculty, and studies happening in the real world, in addition to my research.

Why did you choose Scranton?

I chose Scranton because it combines a great education with athletics and community. The people here are excited to help you, and students are very nice. Scranton is a medium-sized school where you really get to know your professors and classmates.

What do you like about the psychology major?

Scranton features a plethora of opportunities, and the psychology program coincides with that. Student clubs, research programs, and being a Teaching Assistant are just a few of the advantages that psychology has offered me. Giving students this much experience and information helps us figure out our future.

What are your extracurricular activities?

I am a part of Scranton’s Women’s Volleyball team, a Teaching Assistant for the Psychology Department, and a tutor for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence. I am also a member of the Psych Club and the Math Club.

How has the psychology program prepared you for the real world?

Scranton’s Psychology program is intensive, yet rewarding. Learning about the subfields of psychology is helpful to decide which field is best for you. There is also a Career Development Seminar that helps students learn what their future entails.
