Daniel Haggerty earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Syracuse University in 2003. He is Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts (SJLA) Honors Program at the University of Scranton. His publications in moral psychology, ethics and epistemology deal with such topics as emotions, affectivity, justification, virtue and reasons for acting. His research includes studies of classical theorists as well as contemporary thinkers in both the analytic and continental traditions. In 2011, he was awarded the Alpha Sigma Nu Teacher of the Year.
