This is an award given to the graduating Neuroscience major who demonstrates outstanding qualities in the following areas:

  1. Neuroscience academic excellence and neuroscience research
  2. Service to Neuroscience at our University or in the community

2017 Awardee: Ashley N. Opalka

Ashley was a Neuroscience and Biology major, a Biochemistry minor, and member of the Honors Program. She was selected for a Summer Program for Undergraduate Research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in summer 2016 and the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, OK. She was inducted into Nu Rho Psi, the Neuroscience Honor Society in 2016 and also Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society in 2017.She was President of the Scranton Neuroscience Society (SNS). Ashley has accepted a research assistant position at Drexel University College of Medicine’s Department of Neurobiology & Anatomy to continue her research experience to determine if she wants to pursue a MD, Ph.D. or an MD-Ph.D. degree.
