The entire committee held its first meeting together last Friday, 21 October, on campus. It was a great opportunity for the group to get to know each other a bit, and the positive energy in the room was terrific. We are all ready to roll up our sleeves and do the best work we can to identify both the strengths and leadership needs of the University and to recruit and interview candidates in the weeks and months ahead. At this meeting we had time to review the Committee’s Charter from the Board of Trustees and the practical details of a confidential search. Anne Coyle, Search Consultant, offered a very informative report of the on-campus forums with varied groups held during her recent visit. We also made good progress on identifying important qualities the next University president should have.
The link below will take you to an on-line survey to help us further refine the essential leadership qualities we should seek and the University’s opportunities moving forward.
As is fitting for our Catholic and Jesuit university, we began our meeting with St. Ignatius’ Prayer for Generosity. In that same spirit, I want to thank you for your generosity in all you do for the University and for your help and support in this Presidential search process. You can expect to receive updates from me every few weeks or more often if news warrants.
Philip Judge, S.J.
Chair, President Search Committee
