Facilities Operations Department: Architectural/Engineering Service
FACILITIES OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT
The Facilities Operations is responsible for all architectural
and engineering functions at the University, including engineering services,
plant development, and mechanical and electrical systems overview.
The Facilities Operations provides consultation to various
University units on the maintenance and operations aspects of proposed capital
improvement projects. It represents the University during the design and
construction phases for capital improvement projects, which are implemented by
outside engineers. The Facilities Operations also prepares plans and specifications
for capital improvement projects when the development of the design for such a
project is the responsibility of the Facilities Operations.
In addition, the Facilities Operations is responsible for
feasibility studies that determine the direction campus planning systems should
go. It is also responsible for general surveillance of the University's energy
conservation program, developing new programs and plans for conservation,
keeping the Administration advised on program areas, costs, and the like, and
advising other University departments in the field of energy conservation.
