IT Forum Scheduled for Thursday

IT Services invites you to the December IT Forum, scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 1, at 11:30 a.m. in Brennan Hall, room 509. Gustavo Fernandez will present an overview of the latest Macintosh operating system, Lion (OS X), including some of the many features including Multi-Touch Gestures, Mission Control, full-screen APPs, Launchpad, Mail, Resume, Auto-save, and Air Drop.

Bookstore Hosts Faculty/Staff Appreciation Event

The University of Scranton Bookstore invites you to celebrate its annual faculty & staff appreciation event, slated for Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. As a token of our appreciation, the bookstore will be extending a 25% discount on apparel and gifts. Sursum Corda Award Call for Nominations

It is time again for nominations for the Sursum Corda (Lift up your hearts) Award. This award recognizes those members of the University’s staff who have made outstanding contributions to the life and mission of the University. This award is presented each year to three staff members: one from the professional/paraprofessional staff, one from the clerical/technical staff and one from physical plant/public safety.

Please review the instructions for submitting nominations. If you know of any staff member who may be deserving of this award, please take the time to complete the form and return it to Barb Eagen in the Chew Office in the DeNaples Center by Monday, Dec. 5. Questions can be directed to members of the Staff Recognition & Excellence Awards Committee which includes Joe Wetherell, Lisa Bealla, Barbara Eagen, Diane Lang, Jordan Lynott and Alex Wasalinko.

Volunteers Needed for Christmas Day Breakfast

The Community Outreach Office and The Fresh Food Company will be working together once again to bring our third annual Community Christmas Day Breakfast to the Scranton community. We are seeking faculty and staff volunteers to assist on Christmas Day from 7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m., on DeNaples Center's third floor.  While this event is open to all to attend, we are asking that volunteers be University employees and their families only.

Essential Training for New Staff

The Office of Equity and Diversity invites all staff hired within the last two years to attend essential Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. Training sessions have been scheduled for the following dates:
  • Thursday, Dec. 1
  • Thursday, Dec. 8
All sessions are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. in Brennan Hall, room 500. A light lunch will be served. Managers are urged to remind their staff to schedule to attend. Separate sessions will be held for managers and supervisors. To schedule your session, email
