An Important Benefits Message from the Office of Human Resources
The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce an Open Enrollment Period for our Voluntary Group Long Term Care Insurance benefit plan, underwritten by a new carrier, Genworth Life Insurance Company.
The Long Term Care Open Enrollment period is Oct. 24, 2011, to Nov. 18, 2011.
Through the Genworth plan offerings, eligible full-time University of Scranton employees can get Long term Care coverage at competitive group rates. Coverage under this Program is portable, so it can move with you if you change jobs, retire or leave the University.
Why consider long term care insurance?
It covers expenses for long term care services received at home, in the community or in a nursing facility. Here are a few quick points to consider:
• Neither health nor disability insurance will cover this kind of care.
• Relying on government programs may not be a viable solution.
• Without insurance, the costs of these services may have to come out of your savings or income.
This is an opportunity to learn what long term care insurance can do to help protect your financial future. To see what this coverage could mean for you, go to:
www.genworth.com/groupltc and use Group ID: SCRANU and Access Code: groupltc.
Or, to speak with a Program expert, call 800 416.3624.
Both services will be available beginning Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.
Or, join us in person to hear more about this great benefit! A representative for Genworth Financial will be on site holding educational meetings on the following days:
- Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m.
In the DeNaples Center, room 404
- Thursday, Nov. 3, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
In O’Hara Hall, room 627
With this Group Long Term Care Insurance Program, there is no underwriting if you are an eligible full-time, actively-at-work employee under age 66 and apply during this enrollment period. This is a limited time offer and will not be available each year with the same terms.
The University’s current Long Term Care carrier is John Hancock Life Insurance Company. The decision to change to the new carrier, Genworth, is prompted by a significant rate increase from John Hancock. The Office of Human Resources will communicate directly (via a letter sent to the home address) with those University employees currently participating in the John Hancock Long Term Care program. This initial correspondence was mailed on Oct. 24, 2011.
If you are a current John Hancock participant and do not receive this correspondence by Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, please contact Patricia Tetreault in the Office of Human Resources at (570) 941-7767 or via email at email@example.com.
