SBDC to Celebrate Entrepreneurship at AWE Luncheon

The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will celebrate success in entrepreneurship by honoring four businesswomen at the Award for Woman Entrepreneur (AWE) luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at The University of Scranton.

The sixteenth AWE winner and three Women of Merit will be announced at the luncheon, which is open to the public. Finalists are Rita Lacey of Close the Loop, LLC, Kunkletown; Marie Page of Marie Page Cleaning Services, LLC, Reeders; Karen Shiffert of Caregivers Aide, LLC, Auburn; and Kim Whipple of Whipple Performing Arts, Tunkhannock. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon beginning at noon. Tickets are $25 each or $180 for a table of 8. Reservations are required.

Cena Block, Mom-preneur and Owner of Sane Spaces, will present the workshop “Using Time & Space to Increase Productivity,” after the luncheon, beginning at 2 p.m. Cost is $30 per person. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

“Women entrepreneurs contribute so much to our region,” said Donna Simpson, SBDC consultant and AWE organizer. “AWE was established to recognize all they accomplish in their businesses, homes, and communities.”

AWE is sponsored by Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal and coordinated in partnership with the Lehigh University and Wilkes University SBDCs. Call 570-941-7588 or visit www.scrantonsbdc.com for reservations or more information.
