University of Scranton Names Vice President for University Ministries

Earlier this year, University of Scranton President Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., announced the appointment of Rev. Richard G. Malloy, S.J., as vice president for university ministries. He arrived in Scranton in August after serving for two months as the Catholic chaplain in Yellowstone National Park.

Joseph T. Sebastianelli, Esq., ’68, President and CEO of Jefferson Health System, Inc., based in Radnor, will receive The University of Scranton’s President’s Medal at the President’s Business Council Ninth Annual Award Dinner to be held on Thursday, Oct. 7, at The Pierre in New York City.

Race for the Cure A Success

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the NEPA Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, which was held on Saturday, Sept. 11. This event has become a September tradition in Northeastern Pennsylvania and has evolved to become the city of Scranton’s largest 5K event.

Documentary Focuses on Plight of Louisiana’s Coastline

The University of Scranton’s Reading Series and Taskforce on Sustainability hosted a two-day event that featured a reading by Poet Martha Serpas and a viewing of the film “Veins in the Gulf,” a documentary that calls attention to the rapidly disappearing Louisiana coastline. The film was shown on Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Moskovitz Theater.
