The University of Scranton hosts 24th MELUS Conference April 8-11

The culturally rich history of Scranton will provide the backdrop for a national conference of a society that studies multi-ethnic literature of The United States. The 24th MELUS Conference, a four-day literature convention featuring a multitude of educational panels, workshops, readings and plenary speakers, including Jay Parini, Ph.D., Marilyn Chin, Sonia Sanchez, Ph.D., and Dara Horn, Ph.D., will be held at The University of Scranton April 8-11.

Students Help Scranton Hearts Stay Healthy

University of Scranton students were healthy heart heroes Feb. 23 when they brought the third annual Healthy Heart Fair to The Mall at Steamtown. The fair allowed area residents to take advantage of free heart health education, screenings and giveaways.

Scranton Makes President’s Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction

The University of Scranton is among just 115 colleges in the nation, and one of only 17 schools in Pennsylvania, to be named to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction. The Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition colleges and universities can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service learning and civic engagement.
