The Department of Military Science is proud to announce that Military Science Level IV Cadet Christian Burne is the winner of the 2014 Lackawanna Bar Association Award for Military Leadership. Each year, the Lackawanna Bar Associations recognizes a Military Science Level IV Cadet for their outstanding achievement and leadership as a member of the Army ROTC program at The University of Scranton.
Cadet Christian Burne currently serves as the Cadet Battalion Commander and has been a member of the unit’ s Ranger Challenge Team each of the past four years. Cadet Burne has also twice been a member of the Battalion’s Army Ten Miler Team and earned the RECONDO Badge while attending the 2013 Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Following LDAC, he took part in the U.S. Army Cadet Troop Leader Training program spending three weeks training with an Armor unit at Fort Riley, Kan.
Cadet Burne has excelled in the classroom, maintaining a grade point average of 3.97, while majoring in both political science and international relations, as well as working towards academic minors in leadership, Arabic and philosophy.
Cadet Burne was granted an Educational Delay to attend law school following his graduation and commissioning from the University of Scranton in May.
