The University Staff Senate Recognition and Excellence Committee randomly selected, from a pool of 13 nominees, the first recipient of the Staff Spirit Award. The May winner is John Sibio, tradesman, Facilities Maintenance Department.
Additionally the following University staff members were recommended for the recognition:
The winner gets a certificate from the Staff Senate; and has the option of using a premier reserved parking spot in the pavilion for a month, or receives a certificate for $50 of university food, compliments of Food Services. The certificate can be used at any of our fine dining campus locations; thank you Food Services.
Sibio, a very hard working plumber, elected to take the food certificate. He will also be invited to the Senate Recognition luncheon on Wednesday, May 15, to receive his certificate of appreciation. We congratulate Sibio, and all the other great nominees for being recognized as “Spirited” employees. We, also, are grateful to those who submitted the nominations.
We hope you will join the Staff Senate in recognizing and nominating employees in the future, and share our excitement for giving individuals the opportunity to be acknowledged for their outstanding efforts on behalf of our campus community. The nominations must be submitted by the 26th of each month prior to the award.
You can use this link to obtain a recommendation card.
The card may be completed on line and forwarded to Jamesina.email@example.com. You could also print it out and send it to Jamesina Hayes’ office as listed on the reverse of the card. In addition, Spirit Nominating Cards will be available to Facilities Operations and University Police personnel through their chains of command.
The University Staff Senate Recognition and Excellence Committee has worked this year to find new ways to recognize “outstanding performance” and “good deeds.” The committee believes it has found a way in the formation of a “Staff Senate Spirit Award,” which is meant to recognize employees who exhibit our Jesuit ideal of “men and women for others.” The award will be bestowed each month to a deserving nominee recommended by our campus community. If you witness a staff member offering excellent performance of their duties or care above expectations, please recommend this individual for this award.
