The Philosophy Department is conducting a search to fill the McDevitt Chair in Philosophy. The first of our candidates, John Davenport, Ph.D., will be speaking on Thursday, March 14, at 8 p.m. in the Loyola Science Center, room 133, on “Sustained Endowments of Common Goods as the Key to Justice.” Dr. Davenport currently teaches at Fordham University and specializes in moral and political philosophy. He has published widely including "Narrative Identity, Autonomy, and Mortality: From Frankfurt and MacIntyre to Kierkegaard" (Routledge) and "Will as Commitment and Resolve: An Existential Account of Creativity, Love, Virtue, and Happiness" (Fordham University Press). The talk is open to the public. We hope that you can join us.
