The following is a recap of the available scholarship opportunities at The University of Scranton.

2013-2014 LESLIE FAY SCHOLARSHIP

  • Provides financial assistance to children and grandchildren of former employees of Leslie Fay
  • Applications available in the Financial Aid Office, St. Thomas Hall, Suite 401.
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013

2013-2014 The Times-Shamrock Communications Scholarship

  • Open to current employees of Times-Shamrock Communications with at least one year minimum service.
  • Application must be verified by Times –Shamrock Human Resource official
  • Undergraduates only

2013-2014 TRL ASSOCIATES SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

  • Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-2014 TRL Associates Scholarship
  • Open to son or daughter of a former TRL employee or eligible associates , which include a son or daughter of an employee of the  Joseph Notarianni & Company, Foley, Cognetti, Comerford, Cimini & Cummins, Related Cognetti Enterprises and Cognetti & Conaboy
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013

2013-2014 IRVING GROSSMAN SCHOLARSHIP

  • The Irving Grossman Scholarship is open to any student who meets The University of Scranton’s scholarship criteria.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to the student based on merit, financial need, and participation in extracurricular and community service activities and demonstrates personal impact on fellow student.
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013 

2013-2014 PURPLE CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-2014 Purple Club Scholarship

Scholarship criteria:

  • Resident of the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania
  • Full-time undergraduate
  • Submission of the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013 

2013 JUNIOR PRE-MED STUDENTS
Francis P. Boland, MD Memorial Scholarship

 Eligibility Requirements

  • Candidates for this award must be considered juniors in 2012-13 and intend to graduate in May 2014.
  • First consideration will be given to sons and daughters of the Regional Hospital of Scranton (formerly the Mercy Hospital family). Family is intended to signify persons affiliated with the hospital. If there is no candidate associated with the Regional Hospital of Scranton (formerly the Mercy Hospital), consideration will then be given to Lackawanna County residents.
  • Candidates for the award should intend to pursue a medical degree. The award recipient will be a declared pre-med student.
  • Candidates must submit a profile including G.P.A., class work and extra-curricular involvement.
  • Candidates must submit a one-page typed essay expressing their goals in medicine.
  • The candidate will be selected based on merit. Financial need will only be used as the determining factor for a final decision when there is a tie.

2013-2014 Joseph P. Gallagher Memorial Scholarship
THE GREATER SCRANTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Attention: All students who are juniors & seniors in the academic year 2013-2014 whose parent’s employer is a current member of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
DEADLINE: April 15, 2013 

2013-2014 The United Gilsonite Laboratories Scholarship

  • Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-2014 United Gilsonite Laboratories Scholarship
  • Open to employees and dependents of United Gilsonite Laboratories
  • Certification by UGL Human Resources Manager
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013  

2013-2014 JAMES BURNS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

  • The James Burns Memorial Scholarship is currently accepting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year.
  •  First consideration will be given to children and grandchildren of current or retired employees of ARAMARK.
  •  Second consideration for awarding the scholarship will be given to children or grandchildren of current or retired employees of any good service provider.
  • All applicants must have a 2013-14 FAFSA on file.
  • Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office located in St. Thomas Hall, Suite 401.
  • Submission Deadline: April 15, 2013

2013-2014 THE NEAL J. FASULA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP At The University of Scranton

Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-2014 Neal J. Fasula Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship criteria:

  • Employee or is a dependent of an employee of the Gerrity’s Supermarkets
  • Full-time undergraduate of The University of Scranton
  • Submission of the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013

2013-2014 CINRAM MANUFACTURING SCHOLARSHIP (formerly WEA)

  • Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-2014 Cinram Manufacturing Scholarship
  • Open to employee or dependents of Cinram
  • Applications available in the Financial Aid Office, St Thomas Hall, Suite 401
  • Certification by Cinram representative required
  • DEADLINE: April 15, 2013

2013-2014 John and Lucille Guzey Scholarship Fund

  • Scholarships may be awarded to current or former male or female members of both the West Side Boys & Girls Club and the Central Boys and Girls Club whose membership includes one year’s active participation.
  • Residents of Lackawanna County who are current or former members are eligible to apply.
  • Applicant must be formally admitted as a full-time student.
  • Must have completed the FAFSA for the 2013-2014 academic year.
  • Applications may be obtained at the Boys & Girls Club of Northeastern Pennsylvania, in the Financial Aid Office or at www.scranton.edu/financialaid. Click on Scholarships and Grants; Additional Scholarship Opportunities.

2013-2014 Peter S. Graybar Memorial Scholarship

  • Recommendations for the 2013-2014 Peter S. Graybar Memorial Scholarship are being solicited. The scholarship will provide assistance for students entering their junior social year next fall.
  • The Peter S. Graybar Memorial Scholarship was created by the class of 1993 to honor a beloved friend and classmate. The Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is active in extracurricular and community service activities and demonstrates personal impact on fellow students.

2013-2014 Fleet PA Services Scholarship                                                                                                                                           

Attention Bank of America Merrill Lynch Associates:

  • If your son or daughter will be attending The University of Scranton, either as a new student or returning student, they may be eligible for a Fleet PA Services Scholarship.
  • Parent or guardian must be employed with Bank of America Merrill Lynch for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
  • Statement signed by a representative of Bank of America Merrill Lynch certifying the associate has been employed for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Certification letter must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office

2012-2013 The Rev. J.J. Quinn, S.J. Achievement Award

  • The Rev. J.J. Quinn, S.J. Achievement Award was established by Fredrick A. Hensley, Jr., M.D. ’75 to be awarded to a University graduating senior majoring in any discipline and accepted at an accredited U.S. Medical School. This award is merit based and the award will be made on Class Night.

  • DEADLINE: April 1, 2013

2013-2014 The Christopher Jason Perfilio Memorial Scholarship

Application Process:

  • Pursue a major or minor in either Philosophy or Theology/Religious Studies and/or hold membership in the SJLA program.
  • Maintain a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.
  • A one-page typed essay expressing reasons for studying either in these fields and in need for the scholarship.
  • A personal and academic profile including family, hometown, hobbies, class year, coursework, G.P.A., extra-curricular activities, and career aspirations.
  • Two letters of recommendation, at least one which must be from a professor.
  • Applications available in the Financial Aid Office.
  • DEADLINE: April 5, 2013
