Highmark Provides Support to University’s Leahy Clinic for Uninsured

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield provided $7,500 in support to defray the costs of pharmaceuticals and supplies used in the operation of The University of Scranton’s Edward R. Leahy Jr. Center Clinic for the Uninsured. The Leahy Clinic offers free primary care and other health and wellness services to disadvantaged and marginalized residents of Lackawanna County who also are uninsured. In 2016, the Leahy Clinic provided 1,010 patient visits. The grant from Highmark will help to fund the cost of pharmaceuticals that can be dispensed to patients on-site to assist them in managing chronic health conditions, minor illnesses and acute infections.
