University of Scranton PRSSA Students Announce Happiness Week and the Five Signs of Emotional Suffering Education Summit

Mar 7, 2017

The University of Scranton Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter has launched the Keep it 180 Happiness Week starting on Monday, March 6. The week of activities will culminate on March 10, 2017 with the Five Signs of Emotional Suffering Education Summit.

The Happiness Week is part of a month-long campaign being implemented by The University of Scranton PRSSA Chapter for the National Bateman Case Study Competition offered by the national PRSSA. The client organization is Change Direction (changedirection.org) and the focus of the campaign is to increase awareness of the five signs of emotional suffering: personality change, agitation, withdrawal, poor self-care and a sense of hopelessness. The target audience for the campaign includes students, veterans, and the underprivileged and elderly population in the Scranton area. The Scranton PRSSA team began running a social media campaign on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat on Wednesday, Feb. 15, to raise awareness of the five signs of emotional suffering using the hashtag #keepit180.

Scranton PRSSA Chapter will hold one event each day during Happiness Week, which will include pet therapy, pose with Iggy, pledge your support and the Education Summit. T-shirts and cookies will be given away at the events and raffle tickets will be given to everyone that posts on the campaign’s social media pages. The raffle drawing will be held during the Education Summit on Friday. Prizes include T-shirts, gift bags and a $100 Amazon gift card.

The Education Summit will include lectures by guest speakers, workshops and a Q&A panel to address mental health and educate students, veterans and the Scranton community on what the five signs are and how to recognize them in friends, loved ones and others we come in contact with. The Education Summit will take place in the PNC Auditorium at the University from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will also include a raffle drawing.
