University of Scranton Players to Present ‘Miss Julie’

Feb 23, 2017

The University of Scranton Players will present August Strindberg’s play “Miss Julie,” directed by Michael O’Steen, Friday through Sunday, Feb. 24-26 and March 3-5. Performances begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Joseph M. McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts on the University’s campus.

This classic drama is widely regarded as one of the premier works of naturalism and a staple of dramatic literature. In it, Jean, the valet of a Count, and Julie, his pampered daughter, spend a fateful evening together. “Miss Julie” has remained one of the most provocative plays in theatre history as it probes deep questions between class, gender and social status.

The production features Victoria Kusy of Scranton as Miss Julie. The production also features Conor Hurley of Woodside, New York, as Jean; Reilly Charles of Rockaway Park, New York, as Kristin; and Julia Consiglio of Oceanside, New York, and Mitchell Demytrk of Bushkill as the Midsummer Nights’ Ensemble.

Tickets for “Miss Julie” may be purchased at the box office one hour before each performance. General admission tickets are $10. Tickets are $7 for students, children, senior citizens and University of Scranton faculty and staff. Reservation can be made online at thescrantonplayers.com or by phone at 570-941-4318.
