Nearly 100 Students Participate in Faculty/Student Research Program in Academic Year
Nearly 100 students participated in The University of Scranton’s Faculty/Student Research Program during the 2015-16 academic year. A total of 95 students participated in The University of Scranton’s Faculty/Student Research Program during the 2015-16 academic year, according to a report complied by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Scranton. Students participating in the program represented more than a dozen majors, including most frequently in the following fields of study: biology (26); psychology (20); biochemistry, cell and molecular biology (16); and neurobiology (14). Students majoring in business administration, economics, health administration and strategic communications, among others, also participated in 2015-16. During the past three academic years, 246 students participated in the program from 24 majors.
Participation in the Faculty/Student Research Program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing in all fields of study. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn and develop research skills and apply knowledge learned in course instruction. During the past three academic years, 246 students participated in the program from 24 majors.
The program is offered on a non-credit basis, but students receive transcript recognition of participation. Students participate with a faculty sponsor for a minimum of one semester, intersession or summer session.
