The University of Scranton was ranked No. 7 in the nation among in the “20 Best Online Schools for Accounting Master’s 2016-2017” list published by Best Choice Schools (BestChoiceSchools.com), an online resource for academic degree programs. Scranton was among just two Jesuit colleges and two Pennsylvania colleges listed.

Best Choice Schools used information from the National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator database to rank schools based on student/faculty ratio, net cost of attendance, acceptance and graduation rates.

The ranking includes a description of the schools selected. Scranton’s description touted its business school’s accreditation by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and its Jesuit mission of “nurturing students for success in their careers as well as their personal and public lives.” The posting also praised Scranton’s “master of accountancy that is designed for working professionals who want to become experts in the field of accounting,” noting “the program is aligned with the educational requirements needed to qualify and sit for the CPA licensure exam.”

Scranton’s Kania School of Management offers online master’s degrees in accountancy, health administration, health informatics and human resources, as well as online MBA degrees in general business, accounting, enterprise resource planning, healthcare management, human resources, international business and operations management. For technology, recruitment and marketing support, the University partners with Wiley, a higher education consulting firm, for its online graduate business degree programs.

In other online rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked Scranton among the “Best Online Programs” in the nation in its 2017 rankings, marking the sixth consecutive year that U.S. News ranked Scranton’s online business and education programs among America’s best.
