University of Scranton Listed Among Nation’s ‘Best Business Schools’

The Princeton Review listed The University of Scranton’s Kania School of Management among the nation’s “The Best 294 Business Schools” in its 2017 guidebook. This is the 12th consecutive year Scranton has been included in the list of the nation’s elite business colleges.

“The schools we selected for this guide all offer academically outstanding degrees: We recommend them highly,” said Robert Franek, senior vice president and publisher, The Princeton Review. 

The listing of business programs is based a school’s academic reputation and interviews of 25,000 students attending the 294 business schools. The 80-question survey asks students to rate their schools in several areas including their professors, classmates, campus life and other factors.

The guidebook’s profile of Scranton noted its “Jesuit values add an element of social responsibility to the work students do,” specifically mentioning the Jesuit principle cura personalis, which “essentially describes a respect for and appreciation of another’s unique needs, circumstances and gifts.” Also mentioned was the University’s accreditation by AACSB – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, as well as data on admissions, financial aid and average starting salaries of graduates, which was listed as $68,150 for the University.

The Princeton Review also listed Scranton in its 2017 edition of “The Best 381 Colleges,” ranking Scranton among the nation’s “Best Science Labs” (No. 4), “Best Campus Food” (No. 11), “Best College Dorms” (No. 17) and “Students Most Engaged in Community Service” (No. 20).

In other national rankings, U.S. News and World Report included Scranton in a national ranking of the top business schools (No. 184), with Scranton’s programs in entrepreneurship ranked No. 13, finance ranked No. 16 and accounting ranked No. 20 in the country. In the overall ranking for colleges, U.S. News ranked Scranton No. 6 among the “Best Regional Universities in the North” in the 2017 edition of the “Best Colleges” guidebook.
