Talk Offers Insights on What to Do in College for Career Success After Graduation

Area residents can learn how to make the most of their college investment from New York Times best-selling author Jeff Selingo, Thursday, Oct. 27, at a presentation at The University of Scranton. Times-Tribune education reporter Sarah Hofius Hall will lead the “Question and Answer” session with Selingo about “Making the Most of College for Career Success Afterwards.”

A native of Wilkes-Barre, Selingo will offer advice and insights to current and prospective college students and their families, including things to consider in selecting a college, strategies to make the most of the college experience and ways to leverage the experiences gained to impress potential employers. His tips are based on numerous interviews with executives who hire college graduates, which he conducted in preparation for his The New York Times best-selling book, “There IS Life After College.”

The event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Kane Forum of Leahy Hall. A book signing will take place immediately following the talk. Copies of “There IS Life After College” are available at The University of Scranton Bookstore and will also be sold at the event.

Selingo, a Washington Post contributing writer and former editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education, has decades of experience covering higher education. In addition to “There IS Life After College,” he also wrote “College (Un)bound” and “MOOC U.”

The event is hosted by Chi Delta Rho, the University’s chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the International Honor Society in Counseling.
