In addition to one of its largest undergraduate classes, Scranton will welcome more than 300 graduate students and more than 50 transfer students, who will also begin their studies at the University for the fall semester, which begins Monday, Aug. 22.

The University’s undergraduate Class of 2020 was selected from the largest applicant pool in the University’s history – 10,114 applicants. The class has an average SAT score of 1,130. Incoming students represent a total of 458 high schools, 12 states and seven foreign countries, including China, Ireland, Japan and Vietnam. Approximately 21 percent of the class is from Northeast Pennsylvania. The most common majors chosen by members of the incoming class are accounting, biology, nursing and occupational therapy.

This weekend’s Fall Welcome will include a New Student Convocation, a class photo, residence hall and commuter meetings and an alumni legacy reception. In addition to the undergraduate Class of 2020, the University’s incoming graduate students, online and on-campus, represent several states and foreign countries, including China, Ghana, France, India, Ireland, Nigeria, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
