Nine ROTC Graduates Commissioned as Second Lieutenants

Seven members of The University of Scranton’s class of 2016 and two members of graduating classes of nearby universities were commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army during a ceremony held on Scranton’s campus in May.

The University of Scranton ROTC graduates who were commissioned at the ceremony and the branch of the military in which they will serve are:

2nd Lt. Timothy Eugene Desmarais of Warwick, Rhode Island, Nurse Corps;

2nd Lt. Kimberly Marie Heinau of Wantagh, New York, Medical Service Corps;

2nd Lt. Peter Michael Loven of Scranton, Quartermaster;

2nd Lt. Dylan James O’Keefe of Madison Township, Armor;

2nd Lt. Caitlyn Elizabeth Tschida of Haymarket, Virginia, Nurse Corps;

2nd Lt. Jordan Alexa Valori of Morris Plains, New Jersry, Nurse Corps;

2nd Lt. Ian Patten Weir of Palmetto, Florida, Military Intelligence.

In addition to The University of Scranton graduates, also commissioned at the ceremony was Marywood University graduate 2nd Lt. Victoria Lynn Pezdirtz of Garnet Valley, Air Defense Artillery, and Wilkes University graduate 2nd Lt. Gregory Paul O’Malley of Kirkwood, New York, Aviation.
