Healthy Heart Fair Planned at The Mall at Steamtown

Forty-two University of Scranton students majoring in Exercise Science are organizing a Healthy Heart Fair at The Mall at Steamtown on Saturday, Feb. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. as their senior service learning project. The University of Scranton will hold its seventh annual Healthy Heart Fair at The Mall at Steamtown on Saturday, Feb. 21, from noon to 4 p.m., offering area residents free health screenings and information about heart health.

The event is the senior learning service project for 42 University students in a class taught by Jessica Bachman, Ph.D., assistant professor of exercise science.

The fair will include free blood pressure and body fat screenings, cardiovascular disease risk assessment, early heart attack education, yoga, a zumba fitness session and additional information about reducing the amount of fat in your diet, heart disease prevention for children and the use of a pedometer and heart health.

Community organizations participating include the American Heart Association, Everything Natural, Geisinger CMC, GNC, Green Ridge Om and Wellness Center, Studio LA and Wellspring House.
