Photojournalist Linda Panetta will present “Latin America Through the Lens: A Compassionate Look Back, at Our Future” on Monday, Oct. 6, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the McIlhenny Ballroom of the DeNaples Center at The University of Scranton.

Panetta’s multimedia presentation will showcase her photographs as she illustrates social justice issues she encountered while traveling in Latin America. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public.

In addition, a traveling exhibit showcasing Panetta’s social-justice imagery is on display in the Scranton Heritage Room of the Weinberg Memorial Library through Nov. 26. The exhibit and lecture are among the events planned for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Panetta, the founder of Optical Realities Photography, teaches photojournalism at Cabrini College.

The events are made possible by a grant from the University’s Office of Equity and Diversity’s Diversity Initiatives Fund and the support of the Department of Latin American Studies and Women’s Studies, the Weinberg Memorial Library, University Ministries, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Community Relations.

For more information, contact University of Scranton employee and continuing education student Karl Kretsch, who is the event organizer, at 570-941-4729 or by email at Karl.Kretsch@scranton.edu.
