Fans from around the world joined University of Scranton students to bid farewell in grand style to the cast and producers of “The Office,” the NBC TV series set in Scranton that will air its final episode on Thursday, May 16. Cast members attending “The Office” Wrap Party in Scranton on May 4 included Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ellie Kemper, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith, Paul Lieberstein, Kate Flannery, Creed Bratton, Craig Robinson and Andy Buckley – as well as a surprise appearance by Steve Carell at the final event of the evening. Executive producer Greg Daniels also participated in a series of events that included a parade, street festival, Bloggers’ Breakfast, and a producer and cast Q-and-A.

Cast members signed autographs and posed for photos with fans that included hundreds of University students during a parade that began on campus and ended a few blocks away at Courthouse Square in downtown Scranton. University cheerleaders participated in the parade along with Student Government officers and members of the University’s dance team, Urban Beats Crew, WUSR radio station, Royal Harmony and Men and Women for Octaves, an a cappella group that also performed a rendition of “The Office” theme song at a VIP reception at the University on May 3.

Also at the VIP reception, University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., joined local community leaders, including U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey Jr., to welcome the cast and producers to Scranton.

The University also hosted the Bloggers’ Breakfast and a “Behind the Scenes Q-&-A” with Daniels and the writers and coordinators of “The Office.”

More than 60 reporters representing local, regional and national outlets such as NBC News, Associated Press, Reuters, TV Guide Magazine, The Huffington Post and Entertainment Weekly covered “The Office” Wrap Party. University communication majors served as press liaisons for the media.

Scranton alumnus Tim Holmes ’88, regional director of marketing and events for Times-Shamrock Communications, led the team organizing the Wrap Party. He assembled the same team for “The Office” Convention, which was held in Scranton in 2007.
