Cast and Writers of ‘The Office’ to Return to Scranton

Apr 5, 2013

Cast members and writers from NBC’s “The Office” will be back in Scranton Saturday, May 4, for a “Wrap Party” to close the successful nine-season run of the TV show. The University of Scranton will be the site of the several of the planned events, including a “Q and A” with the show’s writers. Planned events in downtown Scranton include a parade and street festival, and a “Farewell Celebration” is planned at PNC Field.

Scranton alumnus Tim Holmes ’88, regional director of marketing and events for Times Shamrock Communications, assembled the same sponsors who organized The Office Convention in 2007 for the Wrap Party. Sponsors include the University, Times Shamrock Communications, city of Scranton, Lackawanna County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Lackawanna County, the state of Pennsylvania, WBRE-TV and the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

“The Office” has brought national attention to this region and the 2007 Office Convention touted Scranton’s transformation from “Coal to Cool,” according to a headline in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“We are pleased to be able to once again partner with the city, county, and other area businesses and organizations to help make this event happen for our region and the University,” said University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J. “We anticipate our students will be enthusiastic about the prospect of cast members visiting Scranton.”

Father Quinn joined community members for the announcement of the “Wrap Party,” which was made on the ball field at the season opening game of the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders April 4.

Information about the event is posted at www.theofficewrapparty.com. Cast member appearances are planned to be announced Thursday, April 11, and tickets for events go on sale Monday, April 15.
