Leadership Conference Targets Area College Students

The Center for Student Engagement at The University of Scranton will host a leadership conference, which is open to students attending colleges throughout northeast Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Feb. 23.

“Ignite: Student Leadership Conference,” is an interactive, daylong program that includes presentations and small group meetings to help students develop skills needed to become effective leaders on their campuses and in their careers.

The conference will feature a keynote address by author and leadership development expert Ed Gerety. The author of “Combinations: Opening the Door to Student Leadership,” Gerety has spoken at universities, colleges, youth conferences, schools and other organizations in all 50 states, Canada and Europe.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. in the DeNaples Center. The conference concludes at 4 p.m. The program fee of $25 for non-University of Scranton students includes program materials, a light breakfast, lunch and refreshments. The conference is free to University of Scranton students. Pre-registration is required to attend.

This is the third year that The University of Scranton has offered this conference. Last year, 150 students attended the conference, representing The University of Scranton, Baptist Bible College, Keystone College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College and Marywood Univeristy.
