University of Scranton Symphonic Band Set to Perform Saturday

        On Saturday, Nov. 12, The University of Scranton Symphonic Band will present a concert featuring a variety of contemporary works for band, including Vaclav Nelhybel’s “Songs of Praise,” Joseph Turrin’s “Two Sketches for Band,” Ayatey Shabazz’s “Of Honor and Valor Eternal,” and Philip Sparke’s “Mandalen Landscapes,” among others. Admission is free for the 7:30 p.m. performance, which is open to the public. The University of Scranton Symphonic Band is a 75-member ensemble made up of students from majors spanning the curriculum, none of whom are music majors.
