Librarian Recognized as Emerging Leader

University of Scranton Digital Services Librarian Kristen Yarmey is one of 83 individuals in the nation selected for the American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders program. The program gives librarians and library staff members opportunities for peer networking, participation in project-planning work groups, insight with the ALA structure and development of leadership skills.

The program commences with a session at the ALA Midwinter Meeting and follows with a six-month online learning and networking environment, where participants will complete project planning work to be presented at the annual ALA Conference. After completion of the program, participants may be offered positions on various ALA committees.

Yarmey joined The University of Scranton in 2008. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the Schreyer Honors College at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, and a Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md.
