University’s ‘Be Surprised’ Campaign Wins Gold at National Competition
The University of Scranton’s new undergraduate marketing campaign received gold and silver awards from the 25th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, a national competition sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report.
The University of Scranton received a gold award for its 30-second, single television spot. The commercial features current students saying - and drawing images on a blackboard – of what Scranton means to them. Initial tight shots expand to an aerial view that shows the blackboard is located on the Dionne Campus Green in front of the Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Center. The commercial was produced in collaboration with Mind Over Media of Pittsburgh. The commercial can be seen at www.scranton.edu/besurprised.
Scranton also won silver awards for its “Be Surprised” direct-mail advertising piece and its matching newspaper advertisement series. Both marketing programs tout the Jesuit university’s national recognition by U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation’s top schools “Committed to Teaching” and as an “Up and Coming” college to watch, which might “surprise” an audience not familiar with all The University of Scranton offers. The print advertisements ran in newspapers in several states across the Mid-Atlantic and New England. The direct mail piece and newspaper advertisements were designed in collaboration with 360 Interactive Media of Scranton.
