The University of Scranton Appoints New Assistant Vice President for Finance

        The University of Scranton has named Robert J. Thomas, CPA, as assistant vice president for finance. Thomas is a Certified Public Accountant and has experience in public accounting. 
        
        Thomas previously served as a comptroller at King’s College and Lackawanna College. He is a member of several organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the National Association of College and University Business Officers; and the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers. Thomas is chair of the finance committee and past chair of the advisory board of the Salvation Army of Wyoming Valley. He is past president and board chair of Celebrate Wilkes-Barre, Inc; treasurer and corporate secretary of the Primitive Methodist Investment Foundation, Inc. and treasurer and trustee of the Cherry Street Bible Church.  
  
        Thomas is a retired Major in the U.S. Army serving 23 years with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He earned a bachelor’s degree from King’s College and is currently pursuing his MBA at The University of Scranton. 
      
        Thomas resides in Swoyersville with his wife, Beverly, and three daughters, Jessica, Nicole and Amanda.
