The University of Scranton Public Safety Student Officer Jessica A. Williams was one of only three in the nation to receive a scholarship from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The award is given in recognition of her academic ability, leadership and dedication to campus safety.

Williams has been employed by the university's Public Safety Department since joining the Student Officer Program during her freshman year. As a sergeant in the student officer division, her responsibilities include daily patrol of campus, the student escort service, and working in conjunction with the Scranton Police Department to investigate minor student complaints.

Williams is a senior majoring in criminal justice with a minor in sociology.  She currently is vice president of the Criminal Justice Club and a member of the varsity softball team.  Williams volunteers for the Feeding the Homeless program in Atlanta, Ga.

She is a resident of Loganville, Ga., where she hopes to pursue a career in law enforcement as a K9 officer or in a juvenile detention facility.
