Six Named to Board of Trustees at The University of Scranton

        The University of Scranton has named six individuals to its Board of Trustees: Marie A. George, Ph.D., Radnor; Joseph J. Kadow, Esq., '78, Tampa, Fla.; Lawrence Lynch, CPA, '81, Princeton, N.J.; Rev. Ryan Maher, S.J., Washington, D.C.; Joseph T. Sebastianelli, Esq., '68, Sea Girt, N.J.; and Joseph Sorbera, Staten Island, N.Y.

         Dr. George currently serves as president of Cabrini College, Radnor. Previously she served as executive vice president at Saint Anselm College, Manchester, N.H., where she was chief operating officer. She also was vice president of planning and institutional research at The University of Scranton, where she also served on the faculty and was chair of the Department of Health Administration and Human Resources. Prior to joining The University of Scranton, she held positions at Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, the Institute of Gerontology at College Misericordia, Dallas, and was corporate vice president of human resources at Mercy Health System, Wilkes-Barre.

         Kadow is executive vice president and chief legal officer at OSI Restaurant Partners, LLC, Tampa, Fla. He previously served as senior vice president and general counsel at OSI. Prior to joining OSI, Kadow was a partner in the Orlando, Fla., office of the national law firm Baker and Hostetler. He graduated from The University of Scranton with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law.

         Lynch is an audit partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, serving in the Financial Services sector. He most recently served as an elected member of the Alumni Society of The University of Scranton. He is a board member of the International Insurance Foundation and the Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart. Lynch previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Marymount International School in Paris, and as a board member of the French American Chamber of Commerce, Philadelphia Chapter, and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Mental Retardation Services. 

         Father Maher is an associate dean of Georgetown College, the undergraduate school of arts and sciences at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., where he also serves as the director of Catholic Studies. He was the founding faculty member of Georgetown's School of Foreign Service campus in Doha, Qatar. In the Middle East, he taught theology to the school's predominantly Muslim student body. Father Maher earned a bachelor's degree in linguistics from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and holds advanced degrees in philosophy, divinity and education. He previously worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant to Sen. Jeff Bingaman.

         Sebastianelli is currently president and chief executive officer at Jefferson Health System, Radnor. He previously was chairman president and chief executive officer of Onehealthbank.com and president of ScrippsCare. Sebastianelli is an advisory board member to AEG Capital, LLC and chair of the board of directors for the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP). He graduated from The University of Scranton with a bachelor's degree in History, and from Villanova University, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree.

         Sorbera is currently president, chief executive officer, and chief operating officer of JLS Industries Inc. and JLS Cost Management Systems Inc., New York, N.Y. He previously served as chief administrative officer for JLS. Sorbera is a member of the board of trustees and the advancement committee for Loyola School and is an executive committee member for the Pride, Passion, Promise Campaign at The University of Scranton. He is a member of the American Society of Cost Estimators, the Building Officials & Code Administrators Organization and the Greater New York Building Trades Association.
