University of Scranton Commencement 2009

            The University will celebrate the graduating classes of 2009 with numerous events culminating with commencement ceremonies for master's and doctoral degree candidates on May 30 and for undergraduates on May 31.

            On Friday, May 29, achievement awards for undergraduates will be given during Class Night at 8 p.m. in the ballroom of the Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Center.

            On Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m., the University will conduct a nursing pinning ceremony for nursing graduates in the Long Center. A reception for families and friends will follow.

            At 11 a.m., the commencement ceremony for master's and doctoral degree candidates will take place in the Byron Recreation Complex. Awards will be presented to the top students from the College of Graduate and Continuing Education during the commencement ceremony.

            At 1 p.m., a reception for master's and doctoral degree recipients will be held on the Alumni Memorial Green.

            At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, ROTC Army cadets will be commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army during a ceremony to be held in the Royal Theater, McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts. A reception will follow.

            At 4 p.m., the annual Baccalaureate Mass will be held in the Byron Recreation Complex. University of Scranton President Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., will serve as celebrant.

            Also on Saturday, at 8:30 p.m., a President's Reception for graduates and parents will be held in the Byron Recreation Complex.

            On Sunday, May 31, The University of Scranton will confer bachelor's and associate's degrees during its noon commencement ceremony at Wachovia Arena, Wilkes-Barre.
