Scranton Businesses Showcase Green Products During Earth Week 2009

Fourteen Scranton businesses and organizations will highlight earth-friendly initiatives on Monday, April 20, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., during an Earth Week 2009 "Buy Green" tour. Many of the businesses will also offer special sales for those participating in the self-guided tour.

Danielle and Company,  813 Adams Avenue, will offer participants in the "Buy Green" tour a free organic lip balm, as well as a 20 percent discount on all items purchased during the "Buy Green" tour.

Anthology Books on Center Street, Duffy Accessories at 218 Linden Street, Earth Water Bottles in the Ice Box Complex on W. Olive Street, GreenBeing at 334 Adams Avenue and The University of Scranton Bookstore in the Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Center will all offer discounts to participants during the tour.

DxDempsey: Architecture and Design, suite 407 in the Bank Towers Building, 321 Spruce Street, will hold a "Green Materials Workshop" to provide information on the benefits of "green" design.

Also, Northern Light Espresso Bar, 536 Spruce Street, will feature organic drinks. The Lackawanna River Corridor Association at 2006 N. Main Avenue, the Vintage Theatre at 222 Wyoming Avenue, Plotkin Shoes and Boots at 301 Penn Avenue, and three businesses on the 200 block of Linden Street, Cami-Mari Gourmet Deli, Markowitz Newsstand, and Christopher's Hair Salon, will all hold open houses during the "Buy Green" tour.

An information booth will be at the Vintage Theater from 5 to 7 p.m.

Immediately following the tour, the Vintage Theatre will show Fuel, an environmentally themed film, at 7 p.m.. The screening is free and open to the public.
