Information Update - Winter 1992 - 1993

From The Library Director

This first issue of the Weinberg Memorial Library's Information Update provides us with an opportunity to tell you about new services and facilities now available in the Library, and about changes that have taken place.
Information Update's purpose is to provide information to the University community and the community-at-large so that they might be better informed about the services, programs, innovations and cooperative endeavors of the University Library. We plan to publish on an occasional basis. Suggestions or questions will be welcomed by the editor or by me. Libraries are no longer just the storehouses they once were — there are many kinds of services available to the University community in our Library. We hope this publication makes them more visible to you.
To search for an item by title, click on the "Titles" tab and type in either the full title of the item you want or significant words in the title.
Clicking on the "Advanced" search tab allows you to combine and search Keywords, Authors, Titles, Standard Number (ISBN or ISSN), and Subjects using Boolean operators. NPLN's Online Catalog has been a great success. Students and patrons seem pleased at being able to search so many area catalogs simultaneously. It is the organization's intention to continue to expand and enhance the services that it is able to offer patrons through its online catalog and website.
Please note: The NPLN Online Catalog is still in production. Two of the participating institutions, Luzerne County Community College and Wilkes University are slated to be online in early 2001. Functionality issues are still being resolved with each participating library's catalog. Differences in catalog records may create unusual search results.
