ILLiad and Rapid for Interlibrary Loans

ILLiad has been up and running since October 2007. Once the user has established his/her profile with the My.Scranton login, making requests for interlibrary loans, in most cases, is a click away. Links within the databases transfer the desired citation directly into the users request page. Users may also enter requests into blank forms. The user has access to a loan history to keep track of items requested. Like PALCI, ILLiad uses email notification to report the status of loans. While ILLiad enhanced services to users, RapidILL facilitates the process for staff by automatically searching lender holdings. The University of Scranton, with other PALCI libraries, joins this service in a group of peers called a "pod." Libraries can join additional pods of peers. The Library began using RapidILL in January 2008.
