The Library Administration and Library Faculty are developing an Assessment Plan for the Weinberg Library. One of the assessment tools we will be using during the Spring 2006 semester is LibQUAL+™, a suite of services that libraries can use to solicit, track, understand, and act upon users' opinions of service quality. These services are offered to the library community by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). LibQUAL+™ ’s goals are to foster a culture of excellence in providing library service and to help libraries better understand user perceptions of library service quality.
More than 500 libraries have participated in LibQUAL+™, including colleges and universities, community colleges, health sciences libraries, law libraries, and public libraries. LibQUAL+™ will provide a ggregate data and reports that will allow the Weinberg Library to compare its performance with that of peer institutions
LibQUAL+™ will give our library users a chance to tell us where our services need improvement so we can respond to and better manage their expectations. We can develop services that better meet our users' expectations by comparing our library's data with that of peer institutions and by examining the practices of those libraries that are evaluated highly by their users.
