Seymour and Kathy Brotman have donated four scrapbooks documenting their careers and lives
as prominent members of the Jewish community of Northeastern Pennsylvania from 1970 through 2003. The Brotmans arrived in Scranton in 1970 with Mr. Brotman assuming the position of executive director of the Jewish Community Center. In 1978 he began serving as executive director of the Scranton-Lackawanna Jewish Federation. He retired from the Community Center in 1991 and from the Jewish Federation in 1999. Mrs. Brotman has served in a volunteer capacity to many charitable organizations. She has served as Chair of the Women's Division of the United Jewish Campaign, as campaign associate for the Scranton-Lackawanna Jewish Federation, and with the Jewish Family Service among many others. She also served as program director at the Day Nursery Association. She received a Woman of the Year Award from the Jewish Community Center in 1982. She retired in 1999. The Brotmans have continued their volunteer service after retirement.
The scrapbooks also document the activities of other prominent Jewish citizens in Lackawanna County.
