PALCI Union Catalog Allows Direct Borrowing

On 29 January 2000, the Weinberg Memorial Library joined 22 other PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.) members in an initiative designed to improve reciprocal borrowing and resource sharing services among the leading academic libraries of Pennsylvania. Through use of the PALCI Virtual Union Catalog and its direct request system, University faculty, staff, and students are able to search and borrow over 31 million books from other Pennsylvania college and university libraries. With request services available 24 hours per day, patrons are able to borrow directly from participating libraries themselves and have books delivered to their home libraries in four to five business days. Instant e-mail messages alert borrowers when their books are ready for pickup. The loan period is 30 days.

You may search the PALCI catalog and place requests directly by pointing your browser to http://mimi.cc.lehigh.edu/SCRANTON_login.html, or by clicking on the PALCI link in the Online Public Catalog box on the Library's home page. Login with your personal Library ID number or as Guest and test out the catalog. For a complete list of participating libraries and more information about PALCI and the Virtual Union Catalog, point your browser to http://www.lehigh.edu/~inpalci/abtmenu.htm.
